This year has been nothing short of excellent, marked by achievements, growth, and our teams working together to deliver a top class result for our clients up and down the country.

Our collective efforts have propelled us to new heights, and as you will know from our recent news online and what you see in the depot, I’m thrilled to share that we've made substantial investments in our fleet, adding cutting-edge cranes to the business.

We've had the privilege of being part of the biggest and best jobs, leaving our own mark on skylines and contributing to projects that make a difference to our communities and the town and cities we live in.

It's a testament to the skill, dedication, and professionalism of each member of our team. Their hard work has not only elevated our company but has also played a crucial role in shaping the landscapes around us.

This season, as gear up for the holidays, I want to say a heartfelt thanks to our team, customers and clients. We are only as good as our last job and that is never forgotten in our business.

Our achievements this year are a reflection of the collective strength and resilience that defines the John Sutch Cranes family.

Wishing you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas. May the new year bring even greater opportunities for success.

Warm regards,

John Sutch

Managing Director

Our Christmas Opening Times

Please be informed that John Sutch Cranes will be closed for the Christmas holidays from close of play on Friday, December 22nd, and will reopen on January 2nd.

However, rest assured that we are still available for emergency operations during this period. We have a dedicated skeleton staff on hand to address any urgent requests.

‘All I want for Christmas is . . . A Liebherr LTM 1450-8.1

Christmas came early for us at John Sutch Cranes this year as we unwrapped a special gift—our brand-new Liebherr LTM 1450-8.1!

Acquiring this powerhouse in late November has not only added to our fleet but also elevated our capabilities. We're excited about the endless possibilities and enhanced services this exceptional crane brings to our projects. Here's to a season of new heights and continued success.

John Sutch, John Sutch Cranes business owner and Managing Director, said: “We're thrilled to announce our latest addition to the fleet, the Liebherr LTM 1450-8.1.

“This investment underlines our commitment to delivering efficiency and precision to our clients. With its remarkable lifting power and versatility, the Liebherr LTM 1450-8.1 opens new horizons for our construction capabilities.

“Everyone at John Sutch Cranes is excited to see this cutting-edge equipment on our projects, ensuring that we continue to meet and exceed our clients' expectations.”

Welcome to the new HK

We’re also proud to announce the acquisition of the state-of-the-art Tadano HK 4.050-1, marking yet another substantial investment in our ever-growing fleet.

This strategic addition, becoming crane number 35 in the business, underscores our commitment to providing clients with the most advanced and efficient lifting solutions.

The Tadano HK 4.050-1, renowned for its cutting-edge technology and exceptional performance, integrates seamlessly with our dedication to innovation and development.

For decades, John Sutch Cranes has consistently invested in expanding and modernising our fleet, ensuring that we stay at the forefront of the industry.

The Tadano HK 4.050-1 represents a prime example of that, especially as the four axle Volvo FH 500 chassis can travel on public roads with its maximum 8.5 tonnes of counterweight on board.

John Sutch, owner and Managing Director, said: “Our investment in the Tadano HK 4.050-1 is a testament to our ongoing pursuit of excellence and our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our clients.

“We believe in staying ahead through innovation, and this cutting-edge crane will empower us to provide even more efficient and reliable lifting solutions. It’s an addition to our fleet that I can’t wait to see in operation. I’m delighted that it’s here and ready for sites across the country.”

Here comes Santa Claus

John Sutch Cranes ushered in the Christmas spirit in Manchester with a spectacular display, skilfully positioning Giant Santa at St Peter’s Square.

Crowds gathered outside Central Library for the grand reveal, turning our crane operations into the center of attention. While the lift was routine for our experts, the festive cheer was abundant as our Liebherr LTF1045-4.1 delicately hoisted the 12-meter-tall, 2.3-tonne Giant Santa intoa prominent spot, captivating thousands of onlookers.

Employee Spotlight . . .

One of John’s oldest friends and colleagues in the crane industry, Derek McLarney, recalls some old times and new as we put him in the spotlight

In a career in the crane industry that stretches over five decades, Derek, 70, has seen it, been there and got the T-Shirt. From Anfield Stadium to Aigburth Road, he’s driven his 100T crane there and lifted loads with the skill and precision as he still does to this day.

While his role may be a bit different to when he first met 20-something John Sutch out on site, there’s no sign of Derek slinging his hook as he enters his eighth decade in 2024.

“When people get to retirement age, they either stop or carry on,” Derek said.

“For me, I’m one of those fellas who wanted to carry on and John was happy for me to do it. I still love it, so why not. I come in three days working in the yard. It’s fewer hours than out on site and there’s enough for me to do.

“I did a year out on the cranes but the yard stuff keeps me busy. I was doing five days and then I’ve gone down to three.

“You can’t go on for ever. This is my gym. You don’t stop all day. It keeps you moving and your mind on it. The first thing I do every day is watch everything, give it a good coat of looking over – it’s something I’ve done since I was on site.”
